People numbering in the TENS OF THOUSANDS will now have the opportunity to see THE GAY MARRIAGE THING!! It’s amazing and astounding and wonderful that our quiet story will have the opportunity to touch so many.

Home Video copies are available by calling The Cinema Guild at 1-800-723-5522 and cost $39.95. (They only list the Educators' price on their website because teachers are their main audience, so you must call to order at the special home video rate.)

Review of TGMT

Jamie Fessenden, Director of "The Sacrifice" (http://sacrifice.numachi.com/index.html) posted this review after a recent screening of THE GAY MARRIAGE THING:

"The Gay Marriage Thing" by Stephanie Higgins: (http://www.thegaymarriagething.com/) An extremely fair and compassionate documentary, following a lesbian couple as they prepare for their wedding, surrounded by the political turmoil in Massachusetts. The damned thing made me cry! I didn't see the documentary that won at the festival, so it may have been brilliant, but this one would have been my choice, I think."

Same-sex Marriage General Discussion

How do you feel about same-sex marriage? This is a place to speak from your heart, not from debate points. You are able to post anonymously. However, the creators of THE GAY MARRIAGE THING are interested in open and honest dialogue. In keeping with that theme, we ask that you identify yourself in some way. In doing so, you will help create an atmosphere where discussion and the exchange of ideas and feelings can flow smoothly.

Thank you for your honesty and for moving beyond the debate.

Welcome to THE GAY MARRIAGE THING

This blog was created by SassyMedia and Stephanie Higgins, Director of THE GAY MARRIAGE THING, a documentary that presents the politics, the piety, and the people embroiled in and affected by the heated debate over same-sex marriage in history-making Massachusetts. Amidst the chaos of legislators, church leaders, and protesters, one couple’s quiet story puts a human face on the social struggle of our time.

This is your chance to post your comments on the film and to hold discussions about same-sex marriage. We don't debate here, we share what we think and feel and respect other people's perspectives. The documentary is for everyone and so is this blog.

If you have questions or would like to be added to THE GAY MARRIAGE THING email list, please email me at info@thegaymarriagething.com.

Sincerely,
Steff
